Birmingham v The Eagles KO Cup Preview

A second round Championship KO Cup tie beckons for the Eastbourne Fineprint Eagles.

They head to Birmingham tonight (May 29) to defend a 57-32 lead carved out in the first leg of the first round tie on Good Friday.

Since then, the Eagles have been to Birmingham in the Championship Shield and won 53-37,

However, that result helped sparked team changes at the Second City club who introduced big hitter Adam Ellis, a former Eagle, at No 1.

Those changes saw Kyle Newman lose his place with the Brummies but he has now slotted in with Eastbourne as a replacement for the injured Tom Brennan.

Will Pottinger, the Eagles’ joint team manager, said: “Everyone of our team will go into this meeting full of confidence after the win over Berwick.

“We have a 25-point lead to defend but we want to go there and win.”

Lewi Kerr, who was taken from the Arlington Stadium track in an ambulance on Saturday night, is fit and takes his place in the full-strength Eagles team.
