Rebels v The Eagles. Championship Preview

Eastbourne make their second visit of the season to Somerset tonight (May 22nd).

The Fineprint Eagles are forced into one change and bring in guest Connor Coles at reserve to replace the injured Tom Brennan, who remains in hospital after his crash last Saturday.

From Saturday – when the new averages kick in – Brennan will be replaced by injury replacement, Kyle Newman.

Last month, in a Championship Shield match, Eastbourne were holding on to the coat tails of the Somerset Rebels, who race at the Oak Tree Arena, Highbridge, until they fell away over the last three heats.

Now, they hope to put what they learned that night to good effect and open their league points account.

Co-promoter Trevor Geer said: “We know Somerset are desperate to make a mark in the league, as this is their 20th anniversary season.

“They are already eliminated from the KO Cup and we edged them out at the top of the Shield southern group table.

“It means the league is their top priority.

“We need to regroup after our defeats and put down a marker for the rest of the season.”

Once again, we are planning detailed heat-by-heat coverage from the match at Somerset. Kevin Ling will be heading way out west to bring you the news and heat details from trackside.

It will all be on this website from 7pm.

Next home match at Arlington Stadium: Eastbourne v Berwick on Saturday, May 25, 7.30pm.
