Brennan and Kemp represent Great Britain

Two of Eastbourne Speedway’s teenage tornados are members of the Great Britain team contesting the final of the Under-21 world team championship final in Outrup, Denmark, later today (September 5).

Belle Vue’s Dan Bewley is the No 1 and captain and he will be supported by HG Aerospace Eagles Tom Brennan and Drew Kemp, plus Jordan Palin (Scunthorpe) and Leon Flint (Berwick).

The GB team are short of competitive action with the UK leagues cancelled for 2020 due to the Coronavirus crisis.

Brennan qualified for the European Under-19 Championship final but his hopes of individual glory ended when he crashed in mid August on the eve of the final while practising in Poland.

However, the Hassocks-based racer is fit again.

Brennan said: “My shoulder feels fine to be honest. I actually was back on a bike just a few days after it happened at Somerset.

“I know it’s fixed so it was just a mental thing, there is little or no pain so it’s fine.

“It was a bit annoying to get another injury especially after the broken leg last season. But that’s just part of speedway I guess.

“The main thing is that I’m fit for Saturday. I’m really happy with the call-up for Great Britain, that’s one of the things I’ve wanted in my career.”

The meeting starts at 7pm (6PM UK time)
