Brennan back for The Eagles

Eastbourne Fineprint Eagles are delighted to announce that Tom Brennan has agreed terms to race once again for the club.

Tom Brennan

He joins the previously announced Lewi Kerr and Kyle Newman in the Eagles team which will compete in the Championship league in 2020.

Further news of team building is expected within the next few days.

Brennan, who suffered a badly broken leg in May, had made an outstanding start to the 2019 season.

He had raised his average to 6.05 points and before his accident had qualified for the European Under 19 and 21 championship qualifiers and finished fourth in the British Under 21 Championship.

Thankfully, his recuperation has gone well.

Tom has been practising before heading next week to Australia for a pre-Christmas break which will see him return to competitive track action.

Brennan made a similar trip last autumn and turned in some superb performance under the tutelage of, among others, former World Champion, Jason Crump.

He will start 2020 in the top five of the Eastbourne team because of his average but club bosses are confident he will quickly re-establish himself as one of, if not the brightest emerging talents of his generation.

Club director Ian Jordan said: “We know that it will not be easy for Tom to start in the top five of the team returning from a serious injury.

“His racing break in Australia could not come at a better time and we will give Tom all of the time and patience, support and protection he needs to return to form and confidence.

“We look forward to seeing Tom progress and mature again, both on and off the track.”

Jordan said the loss of Brennan last season came as he was hitting some outstanding form and was a “blow from which we never really recovered on or off the track”.

He revealed other clubs had inquired about Brennan’s availability.

He said: “It is great to have Tom back but it was certainly not a foregone conclusion,

“He is a fantastic prospect and is surely destined for the top of the sport.

“With such a talent, it is no surprise that many clubs have expressed an interest.

“We as a club have to show that we have the ambition, evolution and professionalism to equally match the ambition and aspirations of such an outstanding young prospect and that of other more established clubs.

“I think it is very much a case of the Eastbourne Eagles having to grow and evolve to match the aspirations of all of our riders to improve, develop and win trophies.”

Jordan said evidence of a winning and professional mentality would be a crucial part in the make-up of every rider who dons the Eagles racesuit in 2020.

As confirmed, The Eastbourne Eagles will return to Race Suits for the 2020 Campaign.
