Eagles Pledge Support for Danny Ayres Fund-raising

Eastbourne Speedway fans will be able to buy fund-raising memorial items for Danny Ayres at the track shop, once the season gets under way.

Director Ian Jordan announced support for initiatives, as long as they are authorised by Danny’s family.

Danny, 33, was regarded as the great entertainer of UK speedway and rode on a number of occasions at Arlington and at times guested for the Eagles.

Jordan said: “We are naturally as devastated and shocked as anyone at the tragic passing of Danny Ayres.

“As a club, we are aware of various fund-raising initiatives being undertaken with the approval of Danny’s family to raise money for his partner and young children.

“We will support as many as we can, provided they are authorised by the family.

“We have already, as an example, agreed to take a supply of Pink Wrist Bands being produced and delivered by ex-rider Jon Armstrong for sale in the track shop for £2.

“We will be happy to also add an extra 20p donation from Eastbourne Speedway; to the £2.00 passed on for any of the wristbands sold in the track shop.

If anyone hears of, or wants us to stock any other authorised memorial items, where 100% of the sale price and a small added donation will be passed on to the family, please let us know so that we can arrange to get a supply for the track shop when it opens on Practice Day on Saturday, March 28. Off-track developments

We are working to enhance and evolve our off-track management and support infrastructure.

In the coming weeks, we will be announcing our Match Day Management Team who will oversee all activities involved with the running of and oversight of speedway on match days to ensure compliance with BSPA and SCB Guidelines and Health and Safety requirements.

We are also developing and enhancing our off-track customer service and customer-facing functions.

As the club grows, and interest and awareness increase, it is important to build an infrastructure that can not only cope, but deliver world class customer service.

We will be announcing soon the appointment of a new Operations Manager, who will oversee the day-to-day customer facing interfaces and also offer oversight and mentoring to the existing Community, Commercial and Administration functions.
