Sheffield Match Off

Eastbourne Speedway’s match against Sheffield next Saturday (June 1) has been postponed.

The Fineprint Eagles request was agreed by the South Yorkshire club’s management.

Eastbourne made the decision after learning that football’s Champions League Cup Final – between Liverpool and Tottenham – would be broadcast “free-to-air”.

Normally, football shown by BT Sports is only available to those who have a subscription to the channel but the broadcaster is allowing this game to be seen by anyone who has a TV set.

The final starts at 8pm.

It also coincides with round 2 of the 2019 Speedway GP.

An Eastbourne Speedway spokesperson said:

“We would like to thank Sheffield for their co-operation and will announce a re-staging date in due course.

“The next home fixture will now be on Saturday, June 8, against Newcastle at 7.30pm.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and will issue a more detailed explanation for the full reasons behind the decision on Tuesday, May 28.
