Fours Glory Challenge for Eastbourne

Eastbourne head to the Championship Fours final at Peterborough today (June 23) with genuine hopes of success.

The team were buoyed by a convincing win over Scunthorpe last night at Arlington Stadium.

Captain Edward Kennett said he believed the Fineprint Eagles can go to Peterborough and do something.

“We are all capable of doing well round Peterborough, so we have to think positive.

Joint team manager, Trevor Geer, added said the big win over Scunthorpe would stand the team “in good stead” at Peterborough at the Fours.

“I think the riders we have are pretty good around Peterborough,” he said.

Kennett will captain the team with Richard Lawson, Lewi Kerr and Kyle Newman alongside him with Alfie Bowtell at reserve.

How it works at Peterborough

All eleven second-tier clubs are competing with a bumper scheduled of 34 races planned for the day.

The top four clubs after Heat 22 – at which point all will have had eight outings – progress to the 12-race Final which runs under the traditional format with scores reset to zero.

On this occasion, heat updates focussing on the Eagles will be via the club’s Facebook page with, as usual, Kevin Ling in charge.
